In this fun, interactive event, children ages 5-8 and 9-12 will get started exploring the world of coding by joining a small group class aligned to their age and skill level (10 kids max). Guided by our expert coding instructors, your child will get hands-on experience bringing their own unique ideas to life through coding, all while learning valuable life skills like problem-solving, creativity, and team collaboration. No prior experience needed!
Each session includes 2 hours of small group, instructor-led coding lessons plus 30 minutes for students to present their projects to family.
Morning Fun with Scratch – 9:30am to 12:00pm (with Nick)
Kids age 5-8 will start the day by designing and mixing crazy facial features, from silly eyes to funky hairstyles, and learn the basics of coding along the way. Using “Scratch” to code, our “Make a Face” project introduces students to using variables, an important foundational coding concept they’ll build on as they explore more coding projects in the future!
Designed as an introduction to coding for young children, this event is based on Tokyo Coding Club’s Scratch Foundations 1B class curriculum.
Afternoon 3D Design and Coding in Minecraft – 12:30pm to 3:00pm (with Nick)
Kids age 9-12 will dive into 3D design and coding with our “Custom Weapon” project, building their own 3D weapon model and adding it to Minecraft. Working with tools like Blockbench (3D modeling) and Visual Studio Code (coding), students will build a resource pack and datapack that brings their creation to life. Get hands-on and learn foundational coding concepts while shaping your own digital worlds!
Based on Tokyo Coding Club’s Minecraft Coders 2B class, this session provides Minecraft fans an engaging lesson in both coding and 3D digital design.
