Start the new year off strong by learning a new skill – coding!
Who: English language learners ages 5-12 who love video games and tech.
What: Students practice English speaking and listening through Minecraft challenges. Follow the instructor’s actions, repeat the steps, and collaborate with classmates – all in English!
When: Sunday, January 26
- 9:30am to 12:00pm (ages 5-8)
- 12:30pm to 3:00pm (ages 9-12)

Session Details
Dive into the exciting world of English language learning through our interactive Minecraft workshop! At this event, young explorers age 5-12 will practice English through engaging games and creative challenges in Minecraft.
With guidance from native English-speaking instructors specializing in child education, students will build useful English vocabulary, improve speaking and listening skills, and develop descriptive language in a low-pressure environment.
Workshop Activities
Morning Session (ages 5-8)
- Color Zone Challenge: Race to color zones and learn color vocabulary.
- Animal Kingdom Game: Explore and identify animal zones in Minecraft.
- Follow the Leader Action Game: Copy actions and practice speaking English.
Afternoon Session (ages 9-12)
- Follow the Leader Action Game: Copy actions and practice speaking English.
- Memory Block Building: Create shapes and learn spatial vocabulary.
- Minecraft Pictionary: Build and guess what’s being made using English words.
This beginner-friendly workshop transforms language learning into an exciting adventure! No prior Minecraft or English experience is required.
What Your Child Will Experience
- Full English Immersion: Students use English (only!) with their instructor, classmates, and in-game.
- Fun Minecraft Projects: Students practice vocabulary in context and build applied communication skills.
- Confidence Building: Students join a fun, low-pressure environment helping them speak with ease.
Additional Details
Designed for children with little to no English experience.
- Example: Students taking all (or almost all) of their classes at school in Japanese.
- Example: Students with minimal English speaking opportunities outside of school.
All technology and materials provided.
Small group sizes (10 students or less) ensure personalized attention.
